When you water, water well

Water deeply when you water to create a reservoir under your plants. This helps keep plants from dying in the heat and trains the roots to grow deeper to access water. If you water shallow the water just evaporates before the plants can use it and in hot climates like the Okanagan the soils below become powder dry. This makes it even harder to get the soil below moist. Deep watering means watering less often. When you water water well and less often for healthier plants and more effective use of your water. Try using drip lines over shrub beds to keep the water soaking directly into the soil instead of spraying the water into the air to evaporate before it hits the ground!
