Ascepias tuberosa is the 2017 Perennial Plant Associations Perennial of the year. This durable long bloomer is well suited for the Okanagan garden. Often called 'Milk Weed' or' Butterfly weed' it is native to eastern and southern North America. It is known to be the prize plant of the Monarch Butterfly that lives in the east and south. This plant is quite drought tolerant and in the right conditions, will self-seed and naturalize.
