Hydrangea petiolaris - Climbing Hydrangea
The climbing hydrangeas are just coming in to full bloom right now and are looking lovely! Hydrangea petiolaris is the botanical name for this deciduous, woody vine that climbs by clinging to walls and fences using aerial rootlets. The plant has rounded, dark green foliage which emerges from attractive creamy coloured buds. White lacecap flowers appear in late spring to early summer transforming the plant into a stunning focal point. Excellent in deep shade and trained onto fences, concrete walls or into large trees, it can reach a height of 15m.
