Pelargonium x hortorum - Zonal Geraniums

This week’s Plant of the Week is the species Pelargonium x hortorum, commonly known as Zonal Geraniums. These Geraniums originate from South Africa and their name comes from the markings on their leaves. They are grown as annuals in this climate and will bloom until very late in the season. There are still plenty around to be seen! The flowers can be single or double and are available in a range of colours. Zonal Geraniums are a valuable addition to summer planting arrangements and are ideally suited to container plantings. They are reproduced by vegetative cuttings.
